School name: North Tahoe High School
Project name: Drafting Essentials
Contact: Brad Altman
Description:
Along with tourism, the building industry is a pillar of the Tahoe-Truckee economy. New this academic year, Sierra College will offer EST 1 “Technical Drafting I” at the North Tahoe High School campus. It introduces students to computer-aided drafting (CAD). EST 1 is the first of four courses leading to a “Drafting Essentials Skills Certificate” that will provide students with the basic drafting knowledge required to compete effectively for an entry level job with a local engineering or architecture firm.
Background:
This dual-credit opportunity for students is the result of a Sierra STEM CTE Collaborative grant of $100,000 and a productive partnership between Sierra College and Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. The grant paid for computer upgrades, software purchases and specialized instructional equipment.
